Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 1, 2026

The short version: You can use CalcBlast as a guest with everything stored only on your device, or create an optional account to sync your progress across devices. We do not run ads, do not use ad-tracking identifiers, and do not sell your data to anyone.

Guest mode (no account)

CalcBlast does not require an account. If you don't sign in, your quiz history, XP, levels, streaks, achievements, unlocked lessons, and settings are saved only in the app's local storage on your device. This progress is not transmitted to us, and it is deleted when you delete the app. (If you use an AI feature as a guest, the content you submit is processed as described below and then discarded - nothing is saved to an account.)

Optional accounts

You can create an account to save your progress and access it across devices, using Sign in with Apple or an email address. When you create an account, we store the following on our servers (hosted on Neon, a Postgres database provider, in the United States):

You can delete individual Check My Work entries and Professor Practice courses or materials in the app at any time; they are removed from our servers immediately.

Account authentication is handled by our identity provider, Clerk, which processes your sign-in credentials on our behalf. We never see or store your Apple ID password, and for email sign-in Clerk manages the verification code, not us.

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Stats → Delete account), or by contacting us at the email below. Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes all of the server-stored data listed above and deletes your sign-in identity with Clerk. We keep only the opaque account ID on a deletion list, so that a request still in flight from your device can't re-create the account.

What is sent to our AI provider

CalcBlast uses artificial intelligence (OpenAI) to generate questions, explanations, hints, lessons, tutoring replies, and to check work you submit. Depending on which features you use, this can include:

Photos, PDF files and voice recordings are discarded after processing. The only text we keep is what is listed under "Optional accounts" above (your Check My Work history and Professor Practice material), and only for signed-in users, until you delete it. Material you upload is treated as content to analyze, never as instructions to our systems. OpenAI processes this as our service provider under its own API data policies and does not use it to train its models.

What we do not do

We use basic, privacy-preserving product analytics to understand which features are used and how often. Each event records only the feature's name (for example "quiz completed") and the platform (iOS, Android or web) — no account ID, device ID, IP address or content. It is not shared or sold, and is not used for advertising.

Permissions

Every permission is optional and requested only at the moment you use the related feature. Declining any of them still lets you use the rest of the app.

Children's privacy

CalcBlast is rated 4+ and many of its learners are children. Guest mode collects no personal information at all, and we encourage younger students to use CalcBlast that way. Creating an account does involve collecting an email address and basic profile information as described above, and we do not independently verify a user's age at sign-up.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has created an account and provided personal information, please contact us at the email below and we will delete that account's data. This page describes our current practices, but we have not yet had a lawyer confirm that our account flow meets COPPA's requirements for services directed at children under 13 (which generally require verifiable parental consent before collecting a child's information) — that review is still outstanding and we intend to complete it before broadly promoting accounts to a school-age audience.

Your choices

You can use CalcBlast entirely as a guest without an account; nothing is saved on our servers for guests. If you have an account, you can delete individual history entries, courses and materials, or your whole account, in the app at any time. Deleting the app removes all locally stored guest data permanently. You can revoke microphone, camera, or photo library access at any time in your device's Settings.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
